Yoga Isn’t

Sometimes it’s easier to explain something by what it isn’t as opposed to what it is.

Yoga isn’t a competition.

Yoga isn’t a work out (it’s a work in).

Yoga isn’t about tightening your rear (it’s about getting your head out of it).

Yoga isn’t for the flexible (it’s for the willing).

Yoga isn’t a religion (yoga predates Hinduism and is practiced by people of nearly all faiths and traditions).

Yoga isn’t about what you’re wearing (yeah, I’m going to call out one major brand here because of the negative impact they’ve had).

Yoga isn’t about touching your toes (it’s about what you learn about yourself on the way down).

Yoga isn’t just about poses (yoga is an eight limbed path and a lifestyle)!

Yoga isn’t just for women (yoga traditionally was practiced by men and although it has gained popularity with western women, men practice yoga too- including my beard wearing gun toting hunter husband).

“Yoga isn’t about doing the poses. It’s about undoing what’s in the way of the poses.” – Leslie Kaminoff

YOGA IS FOR EVERYBODY. YOGA IS A SCIENCE. YOGA IS AN EIGHT LIMBED PATH AND A WAY OF MINDFUL HEALTHY LIVING. YOGA IS A PRACTICE TO HELP YOU GO INWARD TO COME BACK TO YOUR TRUE SELF AND LET GO OF SUFFERING.
